THE SINGLE BULLET hole in the door told the story of what befell an elderly man in the wee hours of yesterday morning.
While many of his neighbours in the 2nd Avenue, Station Hill, St Michael district slept, someone shot 74 year-old Dereck McCollin.
He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and is reported to be in a stable condition.
Police public relations officer Assistant Superintendent David Welch later confirmed that the man was shot in his upper torso and hospitalised.
Lawmen at District “A” are still investigating.
Meanwhile residents of the district were passing and curiously examining the front door of the house.
However, when they and the neighbourhood shop-owner were canvassed by the MIDWEEK NATION, they all said they were sleeping when the incident occurred.
One of the neighbours, who lives two houses away, however, said the shooting occurred between 12:30 a.m. and 12:45 a.m. But she could shed no more light than the others in the area. (HLE)
