JUST WHEN IT LOOKED as though the Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT) and the Ministry of Education were close to solving their differences, there is now another controversy that could divide them even further.
A mere hours after the BUT indicated it was no longer at loggerheads with Minister of Education Ronald Jones, membership was thrown into a tailspin with the news that the ministry will be taking action against teachers who attended two specially convened BUT meetings.
The ministry has advised that teachers who attended meetings on April 29 and May 4 during school hours will have their pay deducted for being off the job on those days. (LK)
