A FIRE SCARE brought proceedings at BMEX to a temporary halt.

The fire alarms were sounded just around 4 p.m. when Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, who was on the outside of the facility, was scheduled to tour the exhibit.

Vendors and members of the public evacuated the building and congregated on the outside of the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre (LESC).

It is understood that Stuart went straight on to his official residence at Ilaro Court, which is right next door to the LESC.

The all-clear was given around 4:30 p.m. as the Prime Minister arrived soon after and patrons were allowed to enter the building. (YB)

Bobbi McKay (with cane) Executive Director of the Barbados Manufacturers’ Association, is among those attending BMEX 2016.
