Child, mum in meeting

THE CHILD at the centre of the dispute at Ellerslie Secondary School attended a meeting at the school last Friday accompanied by her mother.

It is understood that the third former was given a letter which instructed her to report to the school this Friday.

Those at the meeting included the principal, deputy principal, the year-head and a member of the school’s board.

Three weeks ago, the 13-year-old was suspended after being involved in a confrontation with her class teacher. The teacher, who is presently on sick leave, alleged that she was punched in the face and spat at.

The NATION was also reliably informed that the child and her mother were told at the meeting that the school had no written reports from the child complaining about previous incidents between herself and the teacher, as indicated by them during an interview with this newspaper last week. (MB)
