INDUSTRIAL ACTION WAS never off the table and public service vehicle (PSV) operators are warning commuters to brace for some kind of disruption.
Thousands of workers and schoolchildren who use PSVs could find themselves without service this week as an islandwide strike by workers on privately operated ZR vans and minibuses was imminent following a meeting between Minister of Transport and Works, Michael Lashley and the country’s transport stakeholders that ended in a stalemate late Friday.Â
The Association of Public Transport Operators (APTO) and the Alliance of Owners of Public Transport (AOPT) will now be staging an extraordinary meeting today to map plans for possible industrial action.
Two weeks ago both entities agreed to postpone industrial action in order to meet with Lashley on Friday.
