WI glory in Market Hill

AS THEY say, it takes a village to raise a child, and yesterday the Market Hill, St George community came to life as they celebrated the successes of two of their very own.

West Indies leg-spinner Shaquana Quintyne and fast bowler Shakira Selman, products of the close-knit area, were guests of honour during a motorcade held especially for them and they beamed from ear to ear as tributes flowed from their admirers.

After the celebrations Quintyne, speaking to the SUNDAY SUN, said she was humbled by the fact that she could stir an entire community, but most importantly was pleased she could encourage little girls to get involved in the sport. (Barbados Nation)
