Garner hits back at region’s leaders

JOEL GARNER’S spell was short but he delivered some mean bouncers and unplayable yorkers that were aimed at recent calls by some of the region’s prime ministers to dissolve the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

The president of the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) was obviously upset with the interference in West Indies cricket from regional heads of government when he addressed those gathered for the first quarterly meeting of the BCA membership on Thursday night at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.

He asked for the regional governments to show what their contribution to the development of the region’s young cricketers had been.

“We have to ask them where are the development plans within the schools and the clubs in the individual territories?” asked Garner.
