A DRIVER OF an oil tanker who was headed to St Philip had the scare of his life when his vehicle started to smoke at the back wheels along Boarded Hall Road, St George around 7 this morning.
Although not wanting to give his name, the lone occupant who preferred to be called Mr Fortunate, quickly averted what could have been a disaster by smothering fast growing clouds of smoke with a fire extinguisher.
Though slightly overcome with the moment, he said he was happy that matters did not get out of hand because the road was a main artery to Bridgetown.
The Barbados Fire Service arrived to assess the situation soon after. (JS)
