Cavs hold off Sonics

THIS SURE has the makings of an epic rivalry.

Darren Hunte scored 38 points, including the go-ahead layup with 7.9 seconds left, as Station Hill Cavaliers held on for Sunday’s 68-65 thriller over Urban Vybz St John’s Sonics in the Co-operators General Insurance Basketball Premier League at the Barbados Community College.

It was the just latest last-second result between the Cavs and Sonics, who previously ended the league leaders’ unbeaten run in a similarly gripping late-game finish a month ago.

And a rematch may be just around the corner, as the win put Station Hill back into a tie for first place with Pinelands to set up a possible first-round playoff series with the fourth-placed Sonics. (JM)
