MEMBERS OF THE DISABLED community were smiling yesterday after their pleas to make changes to the Road Traffic Act were acknowledged by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart.

President of the Barbados Council for the Disabled (BCD) Maria Holder-Small was beaming after she met with Stuart and delivered a petition with over 12 000 signatures at Government Headquarters at Bay Street.

Public relations officer Errol Hurley said he was also happy about the meeting’s outcome, adding it was a move in the right direction.

Among the proposed amendments are making it illegal to park in areas designated for disabled people, as well as legal backing of Barbados Council for the Disabled-issued identification. (TG)
