TOURISM CONSULTANT Colin Jordan is breathing a sigh of relief in the wake of the settlement of the solidarity strike Thursday by air traffic controllers in support of their Barbados Water Authority (BWA) colleagues.
Jordan said the situation would have been disastrous if the major international flights were affected.
Though hundreds of passengers were left stranded at the airport, including as a result of the decision by LIAT to cancel ten flights into and out of Barbados, the majority of those arriving and departing on larger international aircraft were not, as workers opted to resume duties.
“Obviously there would have been some dislocation for some persons travelling, especially out of Barbados and we’re sorry that happened,” the former Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) president said. (WILLCOMM)
