BURGER KING Lester Vaughan are wearing the boys’ crown for the second consecutive year.

After losing some key athletes, Lester Vaughan boosted their ranks with some clever acquisitions to repeat as boys champions of the Powerade Barbados Secondary Schools Athletic Championships at the National Stadium, yesterday.

Lester Vaughan, with 274 points, staved off a late challenge from Christ Church Foundation, who overtook Queen’s College (248.5) and came within 23 points of the champions to finish second with 251.

Coleridge & Parry, who finished fourth on 193 points, one more than Combermere (192) ended the day in grand style. The CP boys handsomely won the marquee 4×400 relay with the lion-hearted Jonathan Jones impressively anchoring the quartet with Shaquille Holligan, Rasheeme Griffith and Brendon Hoyte to victory in 3:16.68 minutes.
