BSSAC thriller

THE HOLLOW SHELL of galvanised and concrete structures stood as vacant reminders of the previous glory of the National Stadium.

But that reality did not alter the mood on the final day of the Barbados Secondary Schools Athletic Championships (BSSAC) yesterday.

No drums either? That too was a minor issue for those who sat under the comfort of tents to escape the blazing sun while they rang bells and blew whistles to bring in the festival-like atmosphere five months early.

In whatever state they were in, the scores of parents, old scholars and students gathered were contented once they had front row seats to witness their loved ones take home a medal or simply secure a couple of points for their schools. (RG)
