WORKERS OF the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) are not in a fight with the public.
That assurance came yesterday from head of the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) division at the BWA, Carl Boyce, as staff stayed off the job for the second consecutive day.
He was at the time responding to the suggestions that the $36 million owed in increments to the workers would bankrupt the BWA for the next 25 years, and that their action was having a negative impact on consumers.
“The management of the BWA is who is to blame for all of this. All we were simply looking for is a proposal to go forward, and they had promised to bring a proposal since the 15th. So they should explain to the public why they are not bringing a proposal to the union so that we can go forward. We are willing to work. We show up for work,” Boyce stated. (YB)
