TOURNAMENT HOSTS INDIA suffered a shock 47-run defeat to New Zealand in the opening match of the men’s ICC World T20 Tournament in Nagpur.
In the low scoring match, New Zealand scored 126 for seven off their 20 overs and then bowled out India for 79 in 18.1 overs for the perfect start.
Spinner Mitchell Santner took four wickets for 11 runs in a Man of the Match performance, snaring scalps around a resilient MS Dhoni (30) before bowling him, for the penultimate wicket.
It put an end to India’s seven-game winning streak.
