Only CBC

ANY MEDIA house seeking to broadcast the Powerade Barbados Secondary Schools’ Athletics Championships (BSSAC) will have to go through the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

This was the emphatic response by BSSAC organisers yesterday after Digicel Sportsmax announced last week that the Jamaican broadcaster would be televising the popular championships, which begin at the National Stadium today.

In stressing that CBC was the only legally authorised television broadcaster to bring live coverage of the track and field events, the Pine, St Michael station announced yesterday that it had entered into a five-year agreement with the organisers of BSSAC to be the championships’ host broadcaster.

Acting general manager Rod London told reporters that CBC had been associated with BSSAC for a number of years. He added they felt it was their duty as the only television station in Barbados to continue to highlight the talents of the young people.
