HER NEIGHBOURS have long moved on, but to date no amount of high-priced inducements have been able to prise 94-year-old Leotta Burnett from her simple beachfront home.
The Roadview, St Peter, resident has been living on the spot for more than 60 years and is the last holdout following a deal between Jada Builders Inc. and the Methodist Church, back in 2009.
Her home, while quaint, is surrounded on both sides by multimilllion-dollar tourism developments, one made up of condos and the other a luxurious private estate.
Back then, most of the householders who had owned their land sold it to the developers while the ones who were renting from the Methodist Church were resettled at St Peter’s Avenue, on the opposite side of Highway 1 in five concrete houses that were constructed for them by the developers.
