Photographer Grantley Sealy laid to rest

SEVERAL JOURNALISTS and photographers joined family and friends to bid farewell to longtime photographer Grantley Sealy who passed away on February 11.

Niece Gabriella Wilkie eulogised Sealy who grew up in Tudor Bridge, St Michael and migrated to England before he returned to Barbados.

He became one of the island’s best known photographers, working with the Nation Publishing Company and the Barbados Advocate.

She recounted how Sealy had triumphed over certain death, spending almost a year recovering after the petrol-bombing of a party in London where he was the photographer.

He suffered great injury and pain but returned to photography after his recovery.

During the service, which was held at the Michael Bryan Memorial Chapel, Reverend Anthony Harewood spoke of the unconditional love of God and showed us what it meant to be our brother’s keeper.

Sealy was interred at the St James Cemetery. (AC)
