BRIDGETOWN – Shai Hope was on the verge of a century as Barbados Pride, resuming from 71 for one overnight in their second innings, reached 231 for four in 77 overs at tea – an overall lead of 315 runs – on the third day of their seventh round regional Professional Cricket League match against Guyana Jaguars at Kensington Oval here Sunday.

Restarting from 35 at lunch with Barbados Pride on 130 for two, Hope showed more enterprise after reaching his 50 off 130 balls in 191 minutes.

He went to the interval on 86 not out off 178 balls in 281 minutes with four boundaries while Jonathan Carter was on 40 off 53 balls in 84 minutes. Carter has so far struck two fours and a six while featuring in an unbroken 73-run stand for the fifth wicket with Hope.

Fast bowler Keon Joseph struck two blows for the Jaguars in the post-lunch session, having both Shamarh Brooks (26) and Roston Chase (3) caught in the slips.

Opener Kyle Corbin was the lone casualty for 37 in the pre-lunch session when Barbados Pride only scored 59 runs in 25.3 overs, falling to left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul.

Permaul and Joseph have both taken two wickets for 35 and 60 runs respectively.
