THE Head of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s (QEH) Paediatric Department is concerned about childhood obesity but he is not sure any proposed “fat tax” is the way to go.
Yesterday Dr Clyde Cave dismissed talk of the controversial tax, choosing instead to focus on other methods of tackling the growing problem of childhood obesity.
“Not on the tax part in particular because that’s a specific way of responding to the problem. We know we have a problem with obesity, a growing problem and we’ve just started our clinic to address that,” Cave said when asked about the “fat tax”.
He was speaking during the donation of a computer and a cheque by Barbadian expatriate Marva Latimore to the department.
