BACKUP OFF-SPINNER Roston Chase came to the front of Barbados Pride’s bowling attack at Kensington Oval yesterday with a golden arm, leaving the Windward Islands Volcanoes on a verge of an innings defeat.

Preferred to frontline off-spinner Ashley Nurse, Chase justified his Barbados Pride’s captain Kraigg Brathwaite’s faith in him with three cheap wickets as the Volcanoes struggled to 134 for seven in their second innings at stumps.

It left the visitors 66 runs in arrears at the close on the third and penultimate day of their regional Professional Cricket League first-class sixth round match.

Barbados had declared at 450 for five, 35 minutes before tea following Shai Hope’s attractive knock of 162, with a lead of exactly 200 runs after the Volcanoes made 250 in their first innings.
