PM: Own your garbage

PRIME MINISTER Freundel Stuart has criticised householders for generating garbage and then dumping it on the public.

The garbage, Stuart pointed out, did not belong to the Government and whatever garbage was generated by the Government was properly disposed of, while residents felt theirs was the responsibility of someone else.

“The garbage in Barbados does not belong to the Government and householders have to take responsibility for the waste that they generate.

“The Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) will do its job but we have to be a lot more sensitive in terms of how sometimes I see our streets lined with garbage even though it is known the authority’s vehicles may not be passing there,” said the Member of Parliament for St Michael South.
