HOURS AFTER it was spilled, the blood of 24-year-old Travis Austin remained on the ground as a graphic reminder of the country’s first murder for 2016.

In the final hours of Thursday, members of the Royal Barbados Police Force responded to a report that led to the discovery of Austin’s lifeless body lying in a track in Central Close, Haynesville, St James.

According to reports from police, Austin had several stab wounds to the neck, and residents who initially discovered the body explained that the Prior Park, St James resident was dead by the time paramedics arrived.

A resident of the state-owned housing community recounted a few of the former Alexandra School student’s final moments as he saw him minutes before the incident that ended his life.
