COMPLAINTS ABOUT The Dark Horse Gentleman’s Club are as bitter as the compliments are sweet.
The club has been the object of controversy since it opened in September 2014, with residents complaining about noise and its opening hours.
In fact, the club is the third entertainment centre at this Maxwell Coast Road, Christ Church spot – the others being a karaoke bar and what some described as a gay bar – and all of them have drawn the ire of neighbours.
The matter was drawn to the WEEKEND NATION’s attention via a letter accusing the club, in part, of employing immigrant sex workers for “all manner of sexual deviation” and causing the area to be all but blacklisted on Facebook and TripAdvisor as places to be avoided by tourists. In addition, the letter writer asked why the club was allowed to open until as late as 5 a.m., when other night-time entertainment establishments were closed by 2 a.m.
