14 to battle for Dominica calypso monarchy

ROSEAU – Fourteen calypsonians will deliver entertaining performances to a family-friendly audience on Saturday as they compete for the winning position of De Port Kaiso.

The Dominica Air & Sea Ports Authority (DASPA) organised calypso competition will be held on its grounds at the Port Container Park from 8 p.m..

The calypsonians are:

Lloyd Energizer Wayland performing Farmers Cry;

Jefferson Big Jeff Charles performing Working for Q95;

Abel Checko Jno. Baptiste performing ‘Doh Prick Me’;

Vincent Peo Gregoire performing Same Sex Marriage and Abomination;

Philip De Surpriser Durand performing Dat Ole Port;

Daniella Lady Hershima Bruno performing Wrecker Erica;

Nicholas Souf Thomas performing Dominicans Unite;

Wilfred Peltier as the Intruder performing Doh Embarrass Me My Baby; Irma Swinging Vilna Joseph performing Wash Down De Bay;

Desmond Lulu Lawrence performing Peaness Invasion;

Elisha De Asmiss Charles performing Iron;

Dwane Mighty Roro Alexander performing Erica Why You Do Us Dat;

Eden Mighty Jack Alleyne performing Love De Coco;

and defending champion Peter Mighty Pigtail Letang performing Post.

The show will also feature performances by guest artists and the emcee will be former Junior Monarch, Eddie Element Beaupierre.

“It’s better than any tent, any quarter-final, any semi-final, and any final; you’ll laugh so much your mouth will hurt you,” Beaupierre promised the public, before thanking the sponsors and CEO of DASPA Benoit Bardouille.

Contributions from the show’s proceeds will be donated to the Children’s Ward of the Princess Margaret Hospital as well as to the Caribbean All Port Sports.  (PR)
