Holder still queen of road tennis

KIM HOLDER authoritatively answered the doubting Thomases at the Wildey Gymnasium on Saturday night.

She is still the Beacon Insurance National Sports Council’s Inter-Parish road tennis queen and southpaw Ezekiel Ward showed that he is the best Under-15 player in the country.

St James also made a statement by ensuring that traditionally-strong St Michael won’t win any silverware for the first time in the tournament’s six-year history by taking the ‘B’ class title, through the stylish strokeplay of Dario Hinds and Dwayne Lynch.

Lynch, a former Barbados soccer striker and top-flight cricketer, outclassed Anthony “Prince” Haynes 21-9, 21-15 while Hinds prevailed in an entertaining first set before hammering former junior national volleyballer Jamal Branch 21-19, 21-12.
