Fast-track appeals!

Appeals involving minor children should be placed on a “fast track” to facilitate early hearing and resolution.

That was the advice given by the Court of Appeal earlier this month after it dealt with a custody case filed over a year ago.

In addition, the court urged magistrates to carry out an investigation in order to determine which parent/guardian was fit to have care and control of a child.

The court, comprising Chief Justice Sir Marston Gibson and appeal judges Kaye Goodridge and Margaret Reifer (acting), made the orders during a custody appeal involving an 11-year-old child after noting that the mother, who was the appellant, had applied for a stay since April 2018 but a hearing was never granted.
