Man arrested after police seize over 1 000 pounds of cannabis

POLICE HAVE ARRESTED and charged 29-year-old Jody McDonald Watson of College Savannah, St John   in connection with the discovery of more than 1 000 pounds of cannabis on a boat over the weekend.

The boat was intercepted at Consett Bay, St John on Saturday during an operation conducted by the Drug Squad, Marine Unit and the Criminal Investigations Division.

The person onboard eluded the officers but police say subsequent investigations led to Watson’s arrest.

He faces charges of possession  of 454.5 kilogrammes of cannabis; possession with intent to supply; trafficking; importation; disembarking without the consent of an immigration officer and entering other than at a port of entry.

Watson is to appear at the District “C” Magistrates’ Court today. (PR/NB)
