OUTSPOKEN SENIOR ATTORNEY Andrew Pilgrim seems to have found an ally in a top lawmaker.
The Queen’s Counsel publicly expressed disgust over the recent weekend remand of 51-year-old Maurice Sandiford by Magistrate Wayne Clarke on a charge of possession of a “five-bag” [spliff] of marijuana.
Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite said yesterday he had been advocating against such occurrences.
Speaking at a service for Drug Awareness Month at the Bank Hall Church of the Nazarene, Brathwaite said he had already signalled that incarceration was not the desirable penalty for people charged for having small quantities of marijuana.
