THIS IS THE time of year that violence increased, warned Liesel Daisley, an advocate against domestic abuse.
Her advice to victims of domestic violence is that leaving an abusive relationship is one of the best gifts they can give themselves this Christmas. But another advocate believes that ending a relationship is highly unlikely to happen during the yuletide season.
Daisley, president of the SAVE Foundation of Barbados, said the advice to women was always to reach out and get help.
“Yes it’s Christmas time and it’s a festive time. It is a time where families come together and when families share love and share gifts and so on. However, it is also a time of year that we find that violence is increased. There are several times a year we see a spike in domestic violence and Christmas is one of those times.” (GBM)
