Nothing stands in Samara’s way

FOR SAMARA MURRELL, going under the knife for major surgery is as routine as a making a dental appointment.

The eleven-year-old, who has the rare bone disorder known as Blount’s disease, has had more than a dozen surgeries on her legs, starting as a toddler.

She has missed many months of school as a result of the disorder – in which the lower legs turn inwards – but that has not stopped her from excelling at her studies or from engaging in extracurricular activities.

In September Samara started school at Harrison College, having graduated at the top of her class at Gordon Walters Primary School.
