IT WAS A CASE of lightning striking twice in the same spot as Barbados were pounded by Haiti 25-15, 25-8, 25-19 in the final of the tenth CAZOVA junior championship at the Wildey Gym last night.

Barbados had suffered a similar loss to Trinidad and Tobago in 1997 when the inaugural tournament was held at the same venue.

Last night Barbados had no counter for the power of Solaida Pierre, who scored 15 points, and Jackie Graziella Cherry, who added 12. For the hosts, only the high-jumping Shonte Seale, with nine points, and Aliyyah Durant, with seven, put up some fight.

Barbados also lost in the preliminaries to Haiti who played unbeaten throughout the tournament.
