Bid to ‘sizzle’ northern town

THE BARBADOS TOURISM PRODUCT AUTHORITY (BTPA) is working to awaken Speightstown.

It launched the pilot project Sizzlin’ Speightstown at the Speightstown Esplanade last Saturday, where many Barbadians came out to support and take in the activities.

In welcoming remarks, chief executive officer (CEO) of the BTPA, Dr Kerry Hall, said the authority saw the potential in Speightstown and wanted to offer both locals and tourists a truly Barbadian experience.

“We deem Speightstown to be a sleeping giant that is awakening and it should have awakened a long time ago. We see the possibilities for this beautiful, romantic port town and for the BTPA, after having a successful Tourism Week as we celebrated the industry. (ACG)
