THE LEGACY OF HOCKEY excellence at the Combermere School lives on.
The Waterford institution walked away with both the senior boys’ and girls’ titles after the finals of the Sports and Games Inter-Schools’ Hockey Tournament at the AstroTurf at UWI Cave Hill yesterday.
Combermere boys whipped Christ Church Foundation 4-1 in a riveting final, while the girls defeated a strong Harrison College team 2-1.
In the boys’ final, reigning senior indoor champions Foundation got on the scoreboard first, thanks to a beautiful strike from Peter Alleyne.
Alleyne brought the ball up from just in front of the Combermere “D”, beat out all the Cawmere defenders and sublimely flicked the ball past ’keeper Clint Small. (PG)
