Creativity put to the test

THE FREDERICK SMITH Secondary SCHOOL yesterday hosted an art and craft exhibition for several items made by its 4th and 5th form students.

The showcase served a multi-fold purpose as it was not only to display the students’ handiwork, but to raise funds for the art department.

“The art department came with an idea that their students would use their talents to construct various artefacts in an effort to showcase their talent and at the same time help to raise funds,” principal Jefferson Phillips said.

Head of the fine arts department, Cedric Blackman, said: “The majority of the work would have been prepared for the CXC SBA. The standard was fairly good in terms of performance. We tend to do fairly well in terms of the leather craft aspect.” (AD)
