THREE PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHERS were among the top ten graduates from a field of more than 200 at the latest Erdiston Teachers’ Training College ceremony.
One of them was former national athlete Desiree Crichlow, who lamented the lack of respect for physical education teachers.
“We get [almost] no respect. People just think of us as the games teacher but at The St Michael School we help develop the students to be well rounded as we often come into contact with students. It is not only about teaching them to run and jump,” she said after yesterday’s ceremony at Erdiston.
In addition to being national record holder in the junior high jump and triple jump, Crichlow, who has been teaching for the past five years, was the senior high jump national record holder until Akela Jones broke it last July. (CA)
