IT IS UP TO WOMEN to put an end to the humiliation of their gender in popular culture.
This was the position of some panellists participating in a discussion titled Degradation Of Women: Changing Her Image Culturally at Solidarity House.
Deejay Patrick Salt Bellamy, a popular radio personality, suggested that if more women complained about the degradation that occurred at fetes and cruises, promoters would have to make changes.
“Tell the promoter who is trying to sell the ticket that this is the explicit reason why I am not coming to your fete, because you have so and so at this event and the way he behaved is not the sort of thing that I want to spend my money on,” he said.
However, the Dah Wuh Um Is singer noted that he had seen women request songs that also contained an element of degradation. (TSG)
