UNIVERSITY STUDENTS are on high alert as attacks and rumours of attacks have sent a wave of terror across the campus.

Two recent daytime assaults and a late-night assault that left a non-national student severely battered have fuelled the fear that the students may be at risk to the criminal minded.

Security on the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus has been beefed up, students have been warned against walking alone at night or in deserted areas and self-defence classes have been organised as authorities respond to possible threats.

In addition, safety kits with crime prevention information are being distributed and campus shuttle system to Bridgetown has been extended by an hour. (AC)
