Mixed views on Rockley project

Construction of a major public beach club on Rockley Beach, Christ Church, part of a $50 million redevelopment of the nearby Blue Horizon Hotel, is getting mixed views from vendors there.

Philip Tempro, co-owner of Blue Development Inc., which is in charge of the project, said in the last SUNDAY SUN the project would improve parking, include beach facilities with bathrooms, protect the coastline, keep the window to the sea open and provide jobs.

However, it has already received some pushback, with residents filing an objection with the Chief Town Planner, asking that approval not be given until they received more information.

Clothes vendor Dorothy Waldron told THE NATION yesterday the development should bring more people to the area, which could then mean more business for them. (CA)
