BARBADOS HAS BEEN advised to pay more attention to the provision of services in the tourism sector.

Senior fellow at Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, Dr Keith Nurse believes this area of “servification” must take on higher prominence in the discourse on tourism.

Speaking on the topic Tourism, Trade in Services and the Global Value Chains in Barbados at the Cave Hill Campus today, Nurse based his conclusion on the findings of a study he conducted.

“We think that greater attention needs to be placed on this area of ‘servification’ and expand the discourse on tourism beyond the bums in seats and heads in beds” Nurse said. (GC)
