CAREY ROSEMARY ALICIA Brathwaite has been laid to rest.
The fourth fatality in a horrific car crash on October 25 was placed in a grave on the grounds of the St Barnabas Church after a funeral service this evening.
Pink and purple appeared to be the colours of choice but they were not the only ones as mourners adhered to the “no mourning colours” request.
During the tribute, Brathwaite was described as an avid cook, having competed in the Junior Duelling Chef competition; a model, who worked with Horizon Modelling Agency and a fierce protector of her brothers, both younger and elder.
Reverend Mark Harewood gave the sermon. He told the congregation God had the power to transform a tragedy. He said it was customary for people in such situations to ask “why” but the question should instead be “how” as in “how can God be involved?”
“Hopefully out of this tragedy, real blessings can result as we accept what God is doing for us,” he said.
The other three victims, Shakira Shepherd, Shameka Shepherd and Waveney Johnson were buried on Tuesday following a joint funeral service at the Wildey Gymnasium. In comparison, Brathwaite’s funeral was a quieter affair yet still extremely well attended as the church could not contain the hundreds of mourners. (CA)
