CARLOS MAYNARD’S responsible unbeaten 35 off 78 balls, with a solitary four, earned Caribbean Alliance/Akobah Gardens Foundation their first win of the Sagicor Super Cup this season when they defeated Lee’s Bistro Carlton by two wickets in a low-scoring encounter at the Desmond Haynes Oval yesterday.
Maynard held his nerve as wickets tumbled around him, as Foundation made 96 for eight with 12.5 overs left. Maynard and coach/player Nhamo Winn (16) added 30 vital runs for the sixth wicket after the school side were reduced to 23 for five. Shakeel Richards took three for 29.
Earlier, the match was reduced to 39 overs a-side due to wet conditions. Carlton were shot out for 95 in 28.5 overs. Kevin Earle made an unbeaten 31. Medium-pacer Latrell Greenidge claimed four for 25 and Dominic Drakes three for 19. (EDH)
