THEY PAID THE ultimate sacrifice in the two World Wars and yesterday hundreds gathered around the Cenotaph in Heroes Square to remember them.
The multi-denominational Remembrance Day Parade and Service attracted 11 detachments of smartly-attired uniformed groups, seven of which were unarmed. Among those helping to celebrate the contributions of the fallen soldiers were members of the Barbados Defence Force, Girl Guides Association, the Royal Barbados Police Force, HM Prison Service, Barbados Coast Guard, Boy Scouts, St John Ambulance Brigade, Barbados Legion and the Cadet Corps. The police and Cadet Corps bands were also present and played beautifully at the appointed times.
