WHAT ARE THE MEN DOING?

That was the cry of Minister of Education Ronald Jones as he lamented that only 29 per cent of males were among the latest batch of 1 730 students who successfully completed courses and programmes at the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity (BIMAP).

Jones warned that it was dangerous to have such an education imbalance in any society.

“What has gone wrong with our young men that it’s only 29 per cent? And it is not better at the University of the West Indies either; it’s about 35 per cent,” Jones said Saturday night during the BIMAP graduation ceremony at Hilton Barbados Resort. (WILLCOMM)
