LAST SATURDAY, the two-month long competition process ended with the final showdown of the Junior Choir Festival Competition at the St Leonard’s Boys School hall.
With parents and well-wishers of the six schools lending their support, and in a case where the last was first, The People’s Cathedral, acquired 581 points to be best of the best. The choir, largest of the night, showed up and showed out, with their amazing voices doing God’s Not Dead and Amazing Grace.
They beat out Bay Primary, who scored 423 and the second runners-up Grantley Prescod racked up 386 points.
Each choir performed two songs.
Grantley Prescod were first up, and they sang Every Praise and Order My Steps; Vauxhall sang Ashgrove and Swing Low Sweet Chariot; Gordon Walters were the third competitors and they sang Committed Excellence and He Knows My Name. Bay Primary did Da Cocoa Tea and Never Stop Leaving, while Warrens Primary sang Estelle’s Conqueror and Psalm 27.
