CIBC FIRSTCARIBBEAN customers who have receive an email indicating there has been an attempt to access their online accounts are being advised to delete it.
Several customers have reportedly received the email which indicates there has been an attempt to access their internet banking account and are given a link to click.
When an employee of The NATION contacted the customer service centre, she was told to ignore the email and delete it. There was a strong warning not to click the link.
The customer service agent said they had received reports about the scam. She also advised customers to read the notices posted on the bank’s website, one of which says they do not contact customers by email.
The notices also warn about phishing and who to contact if you feel you have been targeted.
Customers who are concerned are asked to call the bank’s call centres or email fraud@cibcfcib.com.
The fraudulent email reads:
Dear Customer,
An attempt on your internet profile was made in an unrecognized location. You are therefore advised to log in below to protect your account.
