TWO CLASS wins in last Sunday’s Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) double-header Winter Sprint have helped Rhett Watson to his second champion driver title.

His achievement made him the first driver in more than 20 years to win back-to-back champion driver titles in the club’s 58-year history, since Derek Roach did it in 1991.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing for the repeat champion driver as he ran off the road in his BMW M3 on the practice run from Collins to Josey Hill and damaged the front suspension.

As a result he missed two of the scheduled timed runs and showed little discomfort in the third as he returned a time of 1 minute 25.04 seconds to be the fastest in SM 12.
