Rogers: We can’t forget slavery

IF JEWS HAVE been told not to forget about the Holocaust, then Blacks should not be called upon to forget about their history of slavery.

That’s the view of Anglican priest Reverend John Rogers, who addressed the issue on Sunday evening at St George Parish Church during a service marking the 20th anniversary of the Barbados Association of Retired Persons (BARP).

Rogers took umbrage with British Prime Minister Dave Cameron’s dismissal of calls for reparations during his recent visit to Jamaica.

Cameron drew the ire of many on the island and in the wider region when he told the Jamaican parliament that he didn’t think reparations were the best way to deal with the legacy of slavery. (SDB Media)
