MARK “VENOM” GRIFFITH is arguably the greatest road tennis player in the world.
The 31-year-old, who celebrated his birthday last month, thrilled a large crowd at Flow Sports Club in Wildey on Sunday night to capture his first Barbados Public Workers Cooperative Credit Union Limited Monarch Of The Court crown with a regal dismissal of Julian “Michael Jackson” White 21-13, 15-21, 21-6, 21-9.
Playing with the focus of a Zen master, the footwork of a dancing genius, the defence of a brick wall and the counter of a heavyweight champion, Griffith maintained his number one ranking by earning $10 000 while banishing the former king White with two ignominious sows. (KB)
