BARBADOS CAPTURED SILVER when the curtain came down on the women’s Pan American Hockey Challenge on Sunday in Chiclayo, Peru.
Brazil, the tournament’s top defensive side, stympied the Barbados offence to win 3-1.
Deadlocked at the end of the first period, Brazil took the lead early in the second through a penalty corner by Eveline Beljon.
In just ten minutes, Barbados found themselves 3-0 down, with Mayara Fedrizzi scoring in the 27th and 30th minutes to effectively put the match out of reach.
Shani Best pulled back one for Barbados in the final quarter.
Peru took third place, beating Puerto Rico 3-1. (SAT)
